I have never been a huge fan of Twitter. I was never popular so getting followers was always difficult for me. It could be beneficial for business or celebrities but for me, it is not very useful. I find myself using Instagram or Facebook a lot. When I created my Twitter years ago, I interacted with a few friends but eventually forgot about the Twitter account. For this class, I had to create a new Twitter because I just could not remember the password to my old one and I did not use the email associated with it anymore.
Digital divide refers to the gap between people that can access and use technology. Some students have access to computers and iPads, others students only use computers at school. This affects education because the students with access to technology definitely have an advantage over the students witho9ut access. Some causes of digital divide are different societies, or a family's socioeconomic status. Some families simply can't afford technology in the home. To eliminate students being at6 a disadvantage, teachers should assign homework that can be done without technology, such as worksheets, or allow students to stay after school to use school computers. Digital divide will affect my teaching strategies because I will have to create lesson plans the will not negatively affect those without technology.
In my future classroom, I will use software such as Edmodo and Remind. Edmodo is similar to Facebook, just for school use. Students can communicate with one another and their teacher. They are able to remind one another of assignments. The teacher is also able to send links of assignments to the students. Remind is a software using text messages to remind students of upcoming assignments or meetings. They are also able to communicate with their teacher, one-on-one. I feel that using these software tools will allow class to run smoother.

Hi Jade!
ReplyDeleteI’m glad that you mentioned Edmodo and Remind. I have always liked both sites/apps because they offer an easy way to communicate important course information — whether that is upcoming exams, projects, assignments, etc. I will definitely use both in my future classroom!
