As a distanced learner, I've learned that this is not my way of learning. I learned that I am not disciplined enough to be strictly a distanced learned. I've struggled really bad with procrastination and just simply understanding assignments. Being in a classroom, I am able to ask teachers questions and I am forced to pay attention because the teacher is there with me. I am surrounded by peers that may struggle the same as I am. Being distant, I feel as if I am the only one struggling and it takes a toll on me mentally. As a teacher, to make my students feel more comfortable online, I would set up in-person appointments. Being that we are in a pandemic, only a few students will be able to have the same appointment slot. This would make it more comfortable for students that want to make appointments with their friends.

Open educational resources are resources that available to the public. Some examples are tutorials or journal articles. This article linked explains more about Open Educational Resources. It also provides links to several different resources. https://campustechnology.com/articles/2014/07/02/16-oer-sites-every-educator-should-know.aspx

When working on the two PowerPoint assignments, I learned a lot that I did not already know. I was familiar with creating slides and changing the backgrounds or adding animation. I was definitely unaware that games were created on PowerPoint. I will definitely use this new skill more often, and in my own classroom. While it is taking me a lot longer to finish the second PowerPoint, it really pulls out the creativity in me.

  1. Hi Jade!

I definitely understand where you're coming from, in terms of distance learning. Many students have not yet come to terms with that "discipline" you referenced. Remote learning is not always easy or manageable, hence I think you should applaud yourself for recognizing that this type of instruction is not best suited for you and your learning needs. I can sympathize.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
